I once loved like I had a blindness
I once loved like there was no end
I loved with my heart too wide open
And all awhile longed for a friend.

I loved with a great un-abandon
I loved with too much on my mind
I loved much too frequent and yet had
never a true love to find.

I loved far too heavy and quickly
that I loved him right out the room
And he laughed at how I did chase him
I told him I loved him too soon.

I once loved a boy masquerading
like he was a man, but he lied
parading me round like a prize he had bought
but taking me just for the ride.

I loved because I wanted someone
to love and to hold and to kiss
but then what I lost was the person
that I hoped I never would miss.

To love is to reach for that someone
in hopes that they’re reaching as well
But sometimes the outcome is different
And only with time can you tell.
